Maryland certification path for dental radiation technologists

Beginning October 1, 2025, dental radiation technologists authorized in another state have a Maryland certification path. Applicants must pay the required fee, meet Maryland’s qualifications, and satisfy another state’s exam requirement that Maryland’s dental board finds comparable. Applicants cannot be under another state’s disciplinary investigation or have pending charges against their certification. They also cannot have discipline or convictions that justify Maryland discipline, or have previously failed Maryland’s certification exam. The board must issue certificates within 15 business days after receiving completed applications from eligible applicants.

Dental professionals get a firm licensing deadline

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland’s dental board must issue eligible dentists’ and dental hygienists’ licenses within 15 business days. The clock starts when the board receives a completed application. This deadline does not waive Maryland’s licensing requirements.
