Maryland pension fees shift into employer contributions

Effective June 1, 2025, Maryland replaces separate employer pension administration fees with a phased funding plan. Local employers must still pay their certified fiscal year 2025 amounts by June 1, 2025. In fiscal year 2026, each retirement system’s accumulation fund pays its share of administrative and operating costs. Starting in fiscal year 2027, employer contribution rates include those costs. Investment Division expenses are excluded from this funding change.
