Equal commissions for Medicare supplement insurance agents

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland insurers must pay insurance producers equal commission rates for covered Medicare supplement policy sales. The rule covers policies issued to people age 65 or older or under Maryland Insurance § 15-909(b)(6). Rates must match across guaranteed issue periods, open enrollment periods, sales involving medical underwriting, and sales under that section. The law does not set commission amounts or require lower premiums for policyholders.
