Maine sets taxes for unorganized territory

Effective April 13, 2026, the law sets about $41.39 million in Maine Unorganized Territory costs for fiscal year 2026-27. This includes about $19.62 million for state services and $16.92 million for county service reimbursements. It also includes $640,671 for Washington County borrowing repayment and about $4.21 million in tax increment financing payments. After about $4.08 million in revenue deductions, the property tax assessment is about $37.31 million before county taxes and overlay. This sets the base for calculating the district’s tax rate, but does not state each property taxpayer’s share.
