3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
The Attorney General investigates claims of illegal online ticket sales. The Attorney General can sue to stop or prevent violations. Courts can order refunds to harmed buyers and enforce penalties. When a court imposes a fine, it may also make the violator pay the state's reasonable legal costs.
Breaking the ticket sales law can cost up to $5,000 per violation. Each illegal ticket counts as a separate violation. Violating a court order in these cases can also mean up to a $5,000 fine. Fines go to the state's general fund.
This law takes effect only if Senate Bill 158 of the 103rd Legislature is enacted into law. All rules in this law are tied to that companion bill.
