Military leave pay for local workers
Michigan cities, villages, townships, and counties can offer employees paid leave when they request or must enter active uniformed service. Through an ordinance, resolution, or personnel policy, they can offer set paid days or payments to supplement military pay. Those payments cover all or part of the gap when local government pay exceeds military pay. Local policies remain subject to the Military Leave for First Responders Act's required paid leave for covered police and fire department members. This law took effect immediately.
