Jobs Trust Fund gets steady funding

The law establishes the 21st Century Jobs Trust Fund in the Treasury. It holds money from tobacco settlement deals, state appropriations, and certain venture investment deposits. From fiscal year 2008 to 2026, $75 million a year of non‑TSR tobacco settlement money goes into the fund. Money left at year end stays in the fund. The State Treasurer must move and disburse the money as section 8 directs.

Investing rules for the Jobs Fund

The State Treasurer invests the Jobs Trust Fund. The fund can be pooled with state cash or put in allowed bonds. Investments must follow the Divestment from Terror Act. Interest and other earnings go to the state's general fund, not back into the trust.
