Missouri's recording fee rises from $4 to $6 per document, adding $2 each time you record one. Of that $6, the recorder keeps $3, the Missouri Land Survey Fund gets $2, and local records preservation gets $1. Documents covered by the separate fee under section 59.330(1)(1) and (2) also carry a $3 charge. That additional money goes to the Missouri Housing Trust Fund and is sent to the state monthly. The recorder's share pays for record storage, microfilming, and preservation; it cannot replace general funding without the recorder's consent. The new Land Survey Fund supports state survey work and receives previously collected money for that work. Its unused money stays in the fund at year-end, and investment earnings return to the fund.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture sets fees based on the cost of making and copying land survey materials. These include maps, plats, reports, studies, and records; the law sets no dollar amounts. The department or state land surveyor can request certified government records, free where possible and otherwise at actual copying cost. The department must also supply records in its custody to other agencies at cost. Sales income goes into the department's land survey revolving services fund. Fee rules must follow Missouri's administrative rulemaking requirements, with charges recommended by the commission. A nonseverability clause links the rulemaking authority and rules adopted after August 28, 2026, so they can be invalidated together.
