Starting July 1, 2025, Mississippi agencies must report a certified officer’s resignation to the state board in writing and by email within 72 hours. If an officer is fired or resigns because of discipline, the agency must also send a written explanation within 72 hours. After notice and a chance for a hearing, agencies found out of compliance lose access to state grants and other state funding, and cannot get reimbursed for required continuing education while they remain out of compliance. Agencies can appeal the board’s order.
