More drought water help for North Dakota ranchers

Livestock owners and operators in North Dakota with drought-caused water supply problems can apply for state help. Projects on Indian land are eligible. If you started a water project after you applied, it still can be considered, even without prior department approval.

Steps and limits for rancher water aid

You must first apply to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency for water cost-share help. If FSA denies you, you can send that application and the denial reason to the North Dakota Water Resources Commission. The Department of Water Resources reviews these requests. Approved projects get money only if program funds are available.
