Water-use permit extensions and 60-day deadline

If you hold a conditional water permit, you can ask the Department of Water Resources to extend the time to put water to the stated use. You must show good cause. If the time has already expired, the department can renew and extend it when you apply. After the department tells you the period expired, you have 60 days to request renewal; if you do not, the permit or part of it is forfeited. If the department denies your extension request, that permit or part is forfeited. Other code sections (61-04-23 to 61-04-25) do not apply to these extension, renewal, and forfeiture decisions.
