Fines for breaking state insurance laws

Breaking North Dakota insurance laws can lead to fines. After a hearing, the Insurance Commissioner can fine up to $10,000 for each violation. The Commissioner can also order restitution equal to the direct money loss to people harmed. Restitution may be required instead of, or in addition to, a fine. This applies unless another law sets a different penalty.
