Later required payouts for North Dakota teachers

The law sets when Teachers' Fund for Retirement members must start payouts. If you reached age 70½ before January 1, 2020, you must start by April 1 after the year you turned 70½, or by April 1 after the year you leave covered employment, whichever is later. If you reached 70½ after December 31, 2019, you must start by April 1 after the later of the year you turn 72 or the year you leave covered employment. Payments must be spread over no more than your life expectancy or your joint life with your beneficiary. Minimum distributions follow federal rule 401(a)(9) for governmental plans.
