New grants to build statewide food bank

The law gives $5 million from the Strategic Investment and Improvements Fund to the agriculture commissioner. From July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027, the commissioner runs a one-time Food Distribution Facility Grant Program. Grants can pay for land, design, engineering, labor, equipment, and materials to build a statewide charitable food distribution and logistics facility. Each grant must be matched dollar-for-dollar with nonstate money. Funded groups must report each year on how the money was used and what it achieved. This is one-time funding and ends after June 30, 2027.
