Signing bonuses for new North Dakota teachers

School districts and area career and technology centers can pay a first-year signing bonus to new teachers they hire. You must be licensed or approved by the Education Standards and Practices Board and have signed a contract. You also must not have been a North Dakota classroom teacher in the prior school year. The bonus is on top of negotiated pay and does not count toward the salary schedule or continuing contract salary. Boards choose whether to offer a bonus, and the law sets no dollar amount.
