Grants for K–3 language teachers

The law creates a pilot for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 school years. The Department of Public Instruction provides annual grants or stipends to schools or teachers who teach a foreign language to kindergarten through grade 3 students. Awards can pay program costs, materials, or teacher stipends, and are capped at $2,500 per teacher per school each year. The program is funded with $49,500 from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027. The state superintendent sets the rules and how to apply.
