New rules for valuing farm land

Beginning with the 2025 tax year, counties must create a schedule of modifiers and directions to adjust farm land assessments. The county director works with the county board and must get state approval before the schedule is used. Each year before February 1, the county director gives all assessors the state‑approved directions and modifier schedule. Assessors must apply the approved modifiers to every agricultural parcel without an owner application. These changes can raise or lower assessed values and your property tax bill.
