New rules for critical incident stress teams
The law sets standard training for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) teams. Training must follow guidelines from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation or a similar group the Commissioner of Safety approves. Teams must register with the Commissioner of Safety and keep training current. Members (sworn, civilian, or retired) can serve only if named by the team leader or listed public safety chiefs, directors, commissioners, or union heads. These steps create one clear statewide standard and authorization path. The law takes effect 60 days after passage.
