Local dog rules and $50 fines
Your city or town can set extra rules for dog licensing, muzzling, and restraining. These rules only apply to dogs owned or kept in that city or town. If you break a local rule, the penalty can be up to $50 per breach. The law takes effect 60 days after passage.
Dog license fees and $1 local cap
The state sets annual dog license fees. You pay $4.75 for dogs 4–6 months old that are not spayed or neutered. You pay $4.50 for spayed or neutered dogs 7 months or older if the clerk accepts your proof. You pay $7.25 for unspayed or unneutered dogs 7 months or older. Your city or town can add no more than $1 per year on top of the state fee. The law takes effect 60 days after passage.
