Homeowners can get permits on private roads
The law lets your town approve building permits on private roads. The town’s governing body must vote to allow permits for that road or a portion of it. It can vote after the planning board reviews and comments, or after the town finds the road meets a policy the town adopted. If your road is authorized, you can apply for a local building permit. The law takes effect 60 days after passage.
