New rules for home food businesses

The law sets rules for selling homemade, non-hazardous foods from your primary New Hampshire home. Make food only in your home kitchen or a designated area in that home. The area must have hot and cold running potable water for handwashing, with soap and sanitary drying. Keep cleanable, sanitizable food-contact surfaces and safe storage, and keep the space clean, pest-free, and pet-free during production. Each package sold from home, farm stands, farmers’ markets, or retail stores must list your name, address, phone, product name, ingredients by weight, and allergy info. Add this statement if exempt: “This product is exempt from New Hampshire licensing and inspection.” If not exempt: “This product is made in a residential food production area licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.” The law takes effect 60 days after passage.
