New foster care oversight panel
The law creates a Foster Care Oversight Subcommittee inside the Oversight Commission on Children's Services. The commission chair picks a legislative member to lead it and appoints at least four other commission members. The subcommittee oversees foster care programs, reviews results with the Office of the Child Advocate, and studies costs, trends, and alternatives. It identifies best practices and recommends new laws to the commission and the legislature. The chair sets the scope and due date for the subcommittee’s annual report. The law takes effect upon passage.
