CTE site costs with grant help
Beginning July 1, 2025, local communities must provide the site, parking, and related areas for CTE projects. Districts and public academies can get grants for site work within one foot beyond the building’s exterior walls, including demolition, utility moves, and road or sidewalk relocations. Districts may include site and related facilities the state did not fund as construction costs in regular school building aid applications. But a district that gets any funding under this CTE chapter cannot also get school building aid for the same project.
Districts own and maintain CTE centers
Beginning July 1, 2025, when a CTE building is finished, the school district or public academy owns it. The building is for the CTE center’s exclusive use. After 20 years of exclusive CTE use, the district may repurpose that space at no cost if doing so lets the CTE program expand. The district or public academy must pay for all upkeep, repairs, and maintenance of the building and labs.
