Licenses and labels for homestead foods
Beginning 120 days after passage, home food businesses that freeze-dry fruits, vegetables, or commercial dairy must get a state license. This covers sales from your home, your farm stand, farmers' markets, and retail food stores. Each packaged homestead food must have a label with your business name, address, phone, the product name, ingredients by weight, and allergy info. The label must also state your status: "This product is exempt from New Hampshire licensing and inspection." or "This product is made in a residential kitchen licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services." You may have to pay fees and complete paperwork as part of licensing, and DHHS enforces these rules.
