Law takes effect in 60 days

The law takes effect 60 days after passage. The new divisions and director rules apply starting then.

New Liquor Commission divisions and directors

The Liquor Commission now has four divisions: marketing, merchandising, and warehousing; administration; finance and audit; and enforcement and licensing. Each division is led by an unclassified director nominated by the commissioner and appointed by the governor with council consent. Directors serve four-year terms and must keep good behavior and competence. The enforcement and licensing director must pass a state police background check before appointment. The law removes the chief operating officer and commissioner from the state officer pay list, and adds the director of administration and the director of finance and audit.
