No state license to sell handguns

Beginning January 1, 2026, sellers no longer need a state or local license to sell pistols or revolvers. The law repeals the old license rules. It also repeals penalties for selling without that license and for sales to nonresidents under the old sections.

Immunity for officers issuing carry licenses

Beginning January 1, 2026, law enforcement officers who issue a carry license in good faith are immune from civil lawsuits. The immunity covers harms or misconduct with a firearm by the person who received the license.
