Patriotic exercises required in NH schools
The law requires all New Hampshire public schools to set aside one class session, or part of one, during the weeks of Memorial Day, Constitution Day, and Veterans Day for patriotic exercises. The session includes a discussion of the words, meaning, and history of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner. Schools may invite speakers, give instruction, present materials, or hold other suitable events. Lessons about the U.S. Constitution may also recognize the New Hampshire Constitution and citizen rights and responsibilities. This requirement starts 60 days after the law’s passage.
