Schools must stock epinephrine and trained staff
Beginning July 1, 2025, school districts with a nurse must keep an emergency supply of epinephrine. A health care practitioner prescribes it in the school district’s name. The nurse decides the type and how many to keep, and orders a replacement within 5 business days after any use. The nurse and principal must name trained helpers so at least one is available for as much of the day as possible. FDA‑approved epinephrine nasal sprays now count as epinephrine auto‑injectors under the law.
Small funding for school epinephrine supply
For the budget year ending June 30, 2026, the state provides $1 to the Department of Education. This money reimburses school districts for keeping epinephrine supplies. The governor may draw the funds from the treasury, and the money does not lapse.
