Insurers must give 120-day exit notice
Insurers that stop an entire line in New Hampshire must warn their appointed agents at least 120 days before. Nonrenewal notices to affected policyholders must follow state law. Those nonrenewals must take effect at least 120 days after the agent notice. Insurers must also give the Insurance Commissioner 120 days' written notice. This applies before ending a line or making major changes. These rules take effect 60 days after the law passed. This gives people and regulators time to find other coverage.
120-day notice for Medicare Advantage changes
Insurers offering Medicare Advantage in New Hampshire must give the Insurance Commissioner 120 days' written notice. This applies before ending or changing a CMS contract by mutual consent. It also applies before stopping plans in a county, or making big plan changes. Notices must use the format the Commissioner requires. These rules take effect 60 days after the law passed. This gives enrollees and the state time to prepare.
