New rules for maternal death reviews
The law updates the Maternal Mortality Review Panel and adds a Department of Corrections representative. The commissioner can delegate data and meeting work to the New Hampshire Perinatal Quality Collaborative at Dartmouth Health, which must follow the same privacy rules. Each meeting must end with recommendations that members share through their institutions' quality assurance programs to protect patients. The commissioner must set rules for finding and reporting deaths, getting records, de-identifying people and facilities, and contacting families with care; grieving relatives can refuse interviews. The law takes effect upon passage.
