Salons and spas can serve alcohol
Barbershops, hair salons, and spas licensed by the state can get a cocktail lounge license from the liquor commission. You may serve alcoholic drinks only during a customer’s scheduled appointment. The license costs $480, and you must keep records of the drink type, amount, and the patron, and show them on request. People under 18 may be present in the lounge.
Tighter rules for alcohol tastings
Manufacturers, distributors, vendors, brew pubs, and licensees may hold tastings only on premises the commission approves. Tastings must happen only during the hours the commission allows sales at that location. This limits where and when you can run tasting events.
One-day alcohol license for for-profit events
For-profit groups can get a one-day license to sell beer, wine, and liquor on commission-approved premises. Each event is limited to 500 patrons, and you can get at most six licenses per calendar year. Apply at least 15 days before the event with written approvals from the fire chief, local health department, and police chief. People under 18 cannot be in serving areas unless with a parent, guardian, or adult spouse; towns may assign police to the site. The commission can suspend the license without warning if sales are against the public interest.
