Stronger privacy on data sent to CDC
Beginning June 30, 2026, the Division of Vital Records limits what it sends to the CDC. It does not send names of the mother, father, or baby. It sends only the year of birth, not full birth dates. It withholds medical record numbers and any address or zip code.
New birth worksheet rules for parents
Beginning June 30, 2026, the birth worksheet changes for parents and hospitals. Parents must list their current name and the name used before their first marriage. Providers record the baby's Apgar score at 5 and 10 minutes. They no longer list the one-minute Apgar score on the worksheet.
