Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Board can allow supervised psychometrists

The Board of Psychological Examiners can set rules that let trained, unlicensed staff give certain psychological tests. A licensed psychologist must directly supervise and periodically observe the testing. The Board can also allow those staff to use the title “psychometrist” while doing those tests. Outside these Board rules or specific Nevada laws, people still cannot use psychology titles like “psychometrist.”

No Board registration for psychology firms

Firms, partnerships, and corporations that offer psychology services no longer must register with the Board under the repealed statute. This removes a Board registration step for these businesses.

Psychology complaints: 3-year limit, 10-year records

You cannot file a disciplinary complaint with the Board if 3 or more years have passed since the act or omission. The Board must keep every complaint on file for at least 10 years, even if it does not act on it.
