Educator seats chosen from six nominees

The law changes how teachers and licensed specialists are picked for three state education bodies. For the State Board of Education and the Statewide Council for Regional Training Programs, the Governor appoints a public school teacher from a six-person list: three nominees from the employee group that represents most teachers in the large school district and three from the group that represents most teachers in all other districts. For four teacher seats on the Teachers and Leaders Council, the Governor uses the same six-person list rule, and the picks must reflect the state’s geographic diversity. The licensed specialist seat on that Council (counselor, psychologist, speech‑language pathologist, audiologist, or social worker) is also chosen from a six-person list split the same way, with geographic balance. “Large school district” follows NRS 388G.530 (currently Clark County).
