Licensed processors can sell meat in-state

Beginning July 1, 2026, a licensed facility or mobile unit that is inspected and approved by the State is an official establishment. Regulations allow mobile units to operate as official establishments. Licensed processors and mobile units may slaughter animals for hire and sell the meat within Nevada. All products are for human consumption and must meet inspection requirements.

Licenses and rules for meat processors

The law creates state licenses for custom processing facilities and mobile units. Rules cover how to get and renew a license, fees, standard operating steps, sanitation, equipment, reporting, records, and labeling and packaging. The State inspects each licensed site at least once a year and can issue stop‑sale or similar orders. State rules must match U.S. Department of Agriculture standards. Mobile units may work at farms or other approved locations. Rulemaking starts now for prep work; all licensing rules apply in full beginning July 1, 2026.

Custom slaughter for your own use

Beginning July 1, 2026, you can have your livestock or poultry humanely slaughtered and prepared for your household’s use. The meat is for you, your immediate family, and nonpaying guests. It is not for sale.
