New Medicaid home visits for Nevada families

Beginning January 1, 2026, Nevada Medicaid covers home visits for members who are pregnant or gave birth within the past 24 months. Coverage depends on available federal funding, and the state must seek needed federal approvals and cooperate to secure that funding. Visits must support a healthy pregnancy, birth, recovery after birth, and the child's first 24 months. Services can include family education, family-planning counseling, preventive screenings, referrals, and help coordinating care. The health agency must tell each eligible member about the visits and clearly explain that participation is optional. The agency must set provider rules, which may require nationally recognized accreditation; the law does not directly require accreditation. Regulatory and preparation work is authorized upon passage and approval.

Nevada health agency coordinates human services

Beginning January 1, 2026, the department director administers the new Medicaid coverage alongside other Medicaid rules. The director also appoints and removes staff, oversees department divisions and relevant laws, and adopts a human-services master plan. The plan must assess programs, set priorities, coordinate organizations and governments, identify funding and allocations, and support budgeting and federal coordination. The director can require nonprofits and state or local agencies to provide program information. These duties do not extend to public-health clinical activities or other divisions' professional work. Preparation and rulemaking are authorized upon passage and approval.
