Nevada voters decide coin buyers’ tax break

Beginning October 1, 2025, the law requires a statewide vote on November 3, 2026, on a coin and bullion tax break. The exemption requires approval by a majority of votes cast on the question. With that approval, qualifying purchases, storage, and use are tax-free from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2050. This covers Nevada sales and use taxes, the local school support tax, and similar taxes. Coins, currency, and bullion must be made partly or wholly from gold, silver, platinum, palladium, or other material. They must serve solely as legal tender, a security, or a commodity in Nevada or another U.S. or foreign jurisdiction. They must sell mainly for their material or collectible value, rather than their value as money used for payments.
