Cosmetologists gain wider access with license fees

The law lets eligible cosmetologists use one multistate license to work in participating states without separate licenses in each. Nevada's start date is October 1, 2025; the interstate agreement takes effect when the seventh state enacts it. Applicants need an active, unrestricted license in their participating home state, must meet Compact requirements, and must pay applicable fees. License holders must follow each state's practice rules, and moving their primary residence requires immediate replacement of their multistate license. In Nevada, Compact authorization carries the matching license's authority, duties, and legal protections, unless another law or the context requires otherwise.

Cosmetology records shared but public access limited

Nevada's cosmetology board shares license actions and certain investigation records through the Compact's shared data system. Beginning October 1, 2025, complaint and investigation confidentiality rules allow sharing required by the Compact; existing exceptions still apply. Investigation details are available only to member states, and some shared information stays confidential. Records covered by the law's Compact exception are also exempt from Nevada's general public-record inspection rule.
