Faster rate changes for small water and sewer

The law requires the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to keep a simpler process for rate changes by small water or sewer utilities. It applies to utilities that serve 3,000 or fewer people and had $2,000,000 or less in sales for that service in the past 12 months. If a utility provides both water and sewer, the sales test is checked separately for each service. The Commission must also allow eligible utilities to file letters of advice to adjust rates using a nationally recognized inflation index it approves. This streamlines filings and can move bills with inflation. The law does not set any new rates or choose the index.
