20-year police pension for Scott Hoag

The law restores Scott Hoag’s coverage in the 20-year police retirement plan. It reclassifies his past service from the general plan to the 20-year plan. The City of Rome must file a resolution with the State Comptroller within six months of the law’s effective date and certify he did not bar himself through negligence. After the city files, Hoag must request coverage within six months of the city’s resolution. The city must agree to pay the added employer cost.

Rome pays added pension costs

The City of Rome must pay all employer past service pension costs created by this law. The city can spread these payments over 10 years. The state and the retirement system do not pay these employer past service costs.
