Beginning December 31, 2028, New York charges an annual fee when you register a snowmobile. The fee is $125, or $55 if you show proof you belong to a New York snowmobile club that is part of the New York State Snowmobile Association, or to a trail maintenance group that is a member of that association. You pay it at first registration and at each renewal. Club members also pay $55 per snowmobile to the state snowmobile trail fund at registration.
Beginning December 31, 2028, owners of snowmobiles made more than 30 years ago must pay extra fees to register. You must pay $125 to the snowmobile trail fund, or $20 if you show proof you belong to a New York snowmobile club that is part of the New York State Snowmobile Association or to a trail maintenance group that is a member of that association. Paying this trail fund fee is required to complete registration. You also pay a $5 vintage registration fee each time you register.
