20-year police pension for one officer

The law lets Kevin R. Noterfonzo move into the special 20-year police retirement plan. The Village of Trumansburg must first file a resolution with the State Comptroller within one year of the law’s effective date. The Village must also certify that the officer did not block his own enrollment through negligence. After the Village files, the officer must file his own request with the Comptroller within the same one-year window. If both filings are on time, he gets the full rights and benefits of the 20-year plan.

Village must pay past pension costs

The law makes the Village of Trumansburg pay all past-service pension costs tied to this coverage. A fiscal note estimates a one-time cost of about $14,800 and about $4,400 more for the year ending March 31, 2026. Future years will vary based on billing rates and the officer’s pay. The act takes effect immediately.
