Authorizes the village of Trumansburg to offer an optional twenty-year retirement plan to a certain formerly employed police officer

Twenty-year pension option for Mackenzie Covert

The law gives Mackenzie M. Covert access to a special 20-year police retirement plan if Trumansburg chooses to fund it. It covers her Trumansburg police service since her February 13, 2017 appointment, in addition to her existing retirement coverage. The village must assume the added cost, including all past-service costs. Within one year after the law took effect, the village must file a resolution with the state comptroller. It must also certify that Covert did not lose access to the plan through her own negligence. After the village elects, Covert must request coverage from the comptroller within that same one-year deadline. She then receives full service credit and the plan’s full rights and benefits. The law took effect immediately and does not state the added cost or the change in her pension payments.
