Oklahoma keeps alcohol and drug testing oversight
The law keeps Oklahoma’s Board of Tests for Alcohol and Drug Influence in place until July 1, 2031. The board sets testing standards, including rules for roadside screening tests used by police to establish probable cause. It also oversees breath-test training, permits, and the handling of blood, breath, saliva, and urine samples. Its eight members serve without pay but receive reimbursement for necessary expenses. The board can hire staff within funding and staffing limits, charge fees, and use its revolving fund for operating costs. State funding supports the board through the Department of Public Safety. The act sets July 1, 2026, as its effective date and includes an emergency declaration.
