The law re-creates Oklahoma’s engineering and surveying licensing board, extending its end date from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2031. The board continues to administer the licensing law. It has four professional engineers, two professional surveyors, and one lay member. At least one professional member must not be a professional engineer. The Governor appoints all members with Oklahoma Senate approval, and each must file an oath with the Secretary of State. Professional members serve staggered six-year terms, with no two terms ending in the same year. The lay member’s term matches the Governor’s term, and the Governor can remove that member. The lay member can remain until a successor is appointed, and all members can be reappointed. If the Governor leaves a vacancy unfilled for three months, the board can appoint a temporary member until the Governor acts. Section 2 sets July 1, 2026, as the effective date. The emergency clause also states that the law takes effect upon passage and approval; the approval date is not provided.
