Coventry sets taxes by property class

Effective December 31, 2025, Coventry groups taxable property into three classes. Class 1 includes homes with five or fewer units, open space, and dwellings on leased land, including mobile homes. Class 2 includes commercial and industrial property, mixed-use homes, and buildings with more than five units. Class 3 covers most business tangible personal property; motor vehicles and trailers are excluded. By June 1 each year, the assessor must list the full and fair value of each class and give it to the town council. Each year the council approves each class’s share of the total tax and sets rates to match. This can raise or lower your bill depending on your property class.
