Warwick no longer must keep its Class 1 property tax rate at least 57% of its Class 2 rate. Different rates require an annual tax resolution approved through the city charter’s budget approval process. Rates must stay uniform within each property class. The assessor must value all taxable property and determine each class’s assessed value by June 15 each year. The law takes effect upon passage and applies retroactively to the December 31, 2024 assessment. It sets no tax rates or guaranteed savings; owners’ bills depend on the rates adopted.
