Homeowners get notice of judgment liens

Beginning January 1, 2027, if a judgment lien is recorded on your real property, the creditor must mail you written notice by certified mail within 10 business days to your last known address. The notice must list the creditor’s name and address, the judgment amount, a description of the property, and how to pay or challenge the lien. Court clerks keep records of lien filings and notices sent. Not getting the notice does not cancel the lien, but enforcement deadlines can pause until notice is given.
