EV and hybrid info shared with fire departments

The law creates a database of electric and hybrid vehicles with high‑voltage lithium‑ion batteries. The State Fire Marshal and the DMV maintain it. The DMV sends limited data to your local fire department: registration, make, model, year, and the address where the vehicle is kept. It sends updates twice a year, by January 1 and July 1, to the department or district that serves that address. The Fire Marshal keeps an updated contact list of all fire departments to ensure the right one gets the information. Beginning six months after passage, these requirements are in effect.
