Felony for taking an officer's weapon or radio

The law creates a felony for disarming a peace officer or an investigator from the Attorney General’s Office. It covers knowingly taking or trying to take a firearm, deadly weapon, or less-lethal weapon, like a baton, pepper spray, or a Taser. It also covers knowingly depriving or trying to deprive them of a police radio or mobile device used on duty. The crime is punishable by 1 to 5 years in prison. The law takes effect upon passage.
